Seminars / Workshops

Founder and Chief Instructor of Kyoshin Ryu Jiu-Jitsu, Shawn Rodie, is available for seminars -- which can be tailored to meet the needs of your school or business. 

Sensei Rodie has over 30 years of teaching and training experience in the Martial Arts:

Sensei Rodie Assisting with public demo of Kitsune Ryu Jiu-Jitsu with Founder, Steve Reynolds. 1988 Sensei Rodie receives his Black Belt in Shinzo Ryu Jiu-Jitsu from Instructor, Gerry Watson, in Port Credit, ON. 1990  Sensei Rodie at Training Camp with Karate Master Tominaga (Centre). 1992

Sensei Rodie:
- Has operated his own school, Goshin Kai Self Defense Club, for over 13 years, where he teaches Kyoshin Ryu Jiu-Jitsu, Self Defense and weapons.
- Holds black belts in Kitsune Ryu Jiu-Jitsu (2nd Dan), in Shinzo Ryu Jiu-Jitsu (4th Dan), as well as in Shotokan Karate (4th Dan)
- Trained in Kick Boxing, Judo, and traditional and non-traditional weapons 
- Trained both Military and Police personnel
- Has over ten years experience in various areas of security. He owned and operated his own security firm, Security Defense Systems, for over five years.
- Published articles in various martial arts magazines focusing on multiple attackers defense and kata applications.
- Has instructed Self Defense Programs for organizations which include: The Toronto Board of Education, The Markham School Board, Jewish Community Centre (JCC), and University of Toronto. 

Some of the techniques taught at past seminars include:

- Throwing and joint locking techniques
- Kumite and drill training techniques
- How to deal with a multiple attacker situation
- Traditional Kata application
- Neck Restraints
- Gun and Baton use and defense
- Pressure point control

These are just a few of the topics that could be covered in a Workshop/Seminar tailored to you and your members' needs. Class sizes are not fixed and can be discussed. Workshops and Seminars can be from a minimum of 4 hours to 2 days. Sensei Rodie is quite flexible...You decide!
